Living life with resilience and optimism is the best way for us, as humans, to exist and be of help to ourselves and other people.

Both must also be present to balance everything out so that we won’t miss out on the catalyst for growth that we need. If we only nurtured one side of the coin and only had resilience and no hope, then we’d be looking at the world with somewhat of a gritty and pessimistic outlook as we tough things out. On the other hand, if we only had hope and no resilience, we’d allow our naivety to get the best of us, and we would never truly grow as a person.

That’s exactly the purpose of my book, Crisis = Opportunity: FINDING GROWTH AND RESILIENCE in CHALLENGING TIMES. Hi guys! My name is Michael Pellegrino, and today, I’d like to show everyone how we can utilize hope to love and follow the path of living life with resilience and optimism!

What Is Optimism?

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, optimism is “a doctrine that this world is the best possible world” or “an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best possible outcome.

What this means is that optimism is a mindset of positivity and an outlook that everything will end up okay. It is also our attitude about the situation(s) that we find ourselves in, where we still choose to keep hope alive and wish for a better outcome. Cultivating optimism should be part of your guide to facing life’s challenges, adversities, and crises.

Now, it can be difficult to view life’s challenges and hardships as having a good outcome from time to time. However, the more you’ve had to train and practice your mind to seek hope, the more you’ll be building resilience in yourself. And your level of resilience will help you go through the rough patches you’re currently experiencing, or about to experience, in life.

What is Resilience?

We’ll be borrowing the definition once again from our good friend Merriam-Webster to define resilience. According to the dictionary, resilience is “the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress” or “an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.

In short, resilience is our capability to bounce back from whatever mishap, change, or misfortune comes our way. Resilience is very important because it serves as our armor against the negative things that will eventually happen to us. Without resilience, all of us would easily topple down like a house of cards being blown away by the wind.

Benefits of Having Optimism and Resilience in Your Life

Are all of you now seeing why it’s important to be living life with resilience and optimism and not just having one of them? My book, Crisis = Opportunity: FINDING GROWTH AND RESILIENCE in CHALLENGING TIMES, goes in-depth about optimism and resilience, so be sure to check it out when you can.

Don’t Skip the Celebration

We’re wired to chase the next thing. The next deal. The next goal. The next version of ourselves. And in that pursuit… we quietly walk right past the wins. Not because they don’t matter.. but because we’ve convinced ourselves they’re “not big enough.” But let me...
