Happy New Year: My One Word for 2025 is Connectivity

by | Jan 3, 2025 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

As we welcome the new year, I’ve been reflecting on the word I’ve chosen for 2025: Connectivity. For me, this word is a reminder of just how important relationships are in life. We all know that life can get busy, and sometimes it’s easy to forget how much a simple conversation or connection can mean. But when I stop and think about it, I realize that every conversation, every new relationship, is a chance to add value and grow.

My wife often jokes that I’ll talk to anyone and everyone. But for me, it’s not just about talking—it’s about connecting. I truly believe that I’m only one conversation away from making a new friend, learning something new, or helping someone else. That’s the power of human connection. No matter how busy we get, there’s always time to reach out, listen, and share.

In 2024, my guiding word was Joy—and it truly brought more happiness and gratitude into my life. But I’ve also learned that true joy often comes from the relationships we build and the connections we make. That’s why Connectivity feels like a natural evolution for 2025.

I got the idea of choosing a “one word” for the year from my mentor and good friend, Dr. Michele Freeman, who is also part of the Resilient Minds family. She taught me the power of being intentional with our actions and focus. Over the past year, I’ve seen how being more intentional about relationships has enriched my life. It’s not always about big gestures—sometimes it’s just about showing up and making the time to connect with others.

As I move into 2025, I’m excited to continue building and nurturing relationships. I believe that every connection has the potential to make life better for all of us. So, my challenge to you this year is simple: Reach out. Talk to someone new. Be present in your relationships. You never know where one conversation might take you.

Here’s to a year of meaningful connections, growth, and shared experiences. May your year be filled with many wonderful conversations and relationships that bring joy, support, and inspiration.

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

With gratitude,

Maybe It’s Not My Fault… But It Is My Responsibility

There’s a shift that happens in life… quiet, but powerful when we stop asking “Why did this happen to me?” and start asking “What am I going to do about it?” Because the truth is… Not everything that happens to us is our fault. We didn’t choose the environment we grew...

Don’t Skip the Celebration

We’re wired to chase the next thing. The next deal. The next goal. The next version of ourselves. And in that pursuit… we quietly walk right past the wins. Not because they don’t matter.. but because we’ve convinced ourselves they’re “not big enough.” But let me...

You Always Harvest What You Plant

There is a timeless principle that governs life whether we acknowledge it or not: you reap what you sow. Farmers understand this better than anyone. They don’t walk into a field expecting corn if they planted weeds. They don’t scatter nothing into the soil and expect...

Everyone loves the big moments. The promotion. The championship. The finished book. The standing ovation. But those moments are not where success is built. They are where it is revealed. Success is almost always the byproduct of something far less glamorous…...

Disappointment Reveals. Response Defines.

Disappointment hits different when you actually cared. When you didn’t just show up halfway. When you gave your time. Your effort. Your heart. We don’t get wrecked by things we didn’t value. We get wrecked by the things we hoped would work. The promotion you thought...

The First Week Sets the Tone

The first week of a new year isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention. By now, the excitement of January 1st may already be fading. The alarms are ringing again, routines are creeping back in, and life is reminding us that the calendar changed but the work is...

Insight: The True Meaning of Christmas

In a world filled with lights, music, shopping lists, and endless distractions, Christmas quietly asks us to see beyond the surface. It invites us to pause long enough to gain insight… not into what we want, but into what truly matters. The true meaning of Christmas...

Trust: The Foundation of Every Relationship

Trust isn’t loud. It doesn’t demand attention. But it is always present or painfully absent in every meaningful relationship we have. Whether it’s with a spouse, a friend, a colleague, a client, or a community, trust is the foundation everything else is built on....

Seek the Good: Rewrite the Story

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get caught up in what’s wrong with the world or with others? It’s almost automatic. We see a coworker make a mistake and immediately point it out. We hear a rumor and assume the worst. We turn on the news and get pulled into...

Character: The True Measure of Leadership

In a world that constantly celebrates titles, success, and status, it’s easy for leaders to forget one simple truth, people are always watching. Not just what you say, but what you do. And more importantly, how you do it. Character is what defines a leader when no one...
